#IWCBD part 2

March 12, 2017 // 0 Comments

On Wednesday Michelle from @LiverpoolCask and I mashed in for the #IWCBD International Women’s Collaboration Brew Day with #ThereSheGose.  Today there’s just this one Michelle back in to do the second part of the brew now our wort has dropped its acidity level and is souring nicely.  Long, slow day waiting for the kettle to boil before adding lime zest and salt for a Margarita finish. There She Gose seemed the best name for a this salty sour Gose style brewed on International [...]

Diary dates keep coming in

March 11, 2017 // 0 Comments

I’m not from #Crewe (and to be honest I’ve moved round a lot so it’s a long story tracing back where I’m from!) but happy to be here and it’s great to get invited to be involved in community events. We’re obviously a big part of the Berries, Beans & Beer event on 28th – 30th April at the Crewe Heritage Centre and hope you’ll come along and support this new drinks festival with a twist; tickets available online here from £5 to £7, direct [...]

#FirstyFriday 3rd March & Preview Thursday

February 27, 2017 // 0 Comments

It’s the first Friday of the month this week so it’s our big open night, #FirstyFriday. The beer list is already up in a brief moment of super organisation here: BEER MENU. There will be cheese boards, crisps and the Weston Biltong beer sticks available if you’re after a snack. Phil Maddocks and Nick Bayes are bringing the tunes.  The band tell us, “We’ll be playing a mixture of familiar cover versions and some of our own original greatest hits in our unique [...]

Beer People Are Good People

September 29, 2016 // 0 Comments

For @SalfordBeerFest Jim,”Beer People Are Good People” has become a bit of a catchphrase.  Jim is a great champion of northern brewers and pubs, he extended his boundary to include us in Crewe as he’s enjoyed the beers from Offbeat.  Salford Beer Fest is in it’s third and final year and I may be speaking out of turn here and a mass generalisation for the participating brewers but for the support Jim gives the brewers in his tweeting and blogging and drinking we like to [...]

Berries, Beans & Beer – drinks festival

September 11, 2016 // 1 Comment

If you’ve been at #Crewe beer festival you may have seen the Berries, Beans & Beer banner so this seems like a good opportunity to tell you a little more about it.  The deposit has been paid and we’re booked in to the Crewe Heritage Centre from 28th to 30th April 2017. 2 weeks ago Otherton Ales had the Argo Bar at Has Bean coffee in Staffordshire and after a couple of beers it seemed a great idea to put on a drinks festival with beer, coffee and gin.  The gin is [...]

July 2, 2016 // 0 Comments

As some of you may have heard that we got planning permission through to open the bar a bit more often, so from this point forward we will be open every week,Thursdays and Fridays from 5pm to 10pm. The first Friday of the month (#FirstyFriday) will continue to be a bigger event, more about that below, but now you can come every week and chill out, have some beers (cask, keg, bottles and cans, Offbeat and guests) along with artisanal gins, ciders from near and far and a great wine list put [...]

Crewe Steampunk Convivial

May 31, 2016 // 2 Comments

This weekend has seen the first Crewe Steampunk Convivial take place in Crewe and we’ve had such a great weekend! Saturday afternoon we had the bar open at the brewery for the steampunkers and the football fans heading to the Everall derby charity match at the Cumberland sports ground down the road. A busy afternoon ensued with many people finding us for the first time and enquiring about opening hours. At the moment we are still #FirstyFriday only (this week, Friday 3rd June 12 to 10pm), [...]

So many brews

January 9, 2015 // 0 Comments

It’s been non stop this week as we try and catch up with shutting for a few days over Christmas. Monday was an Outlandish Pale brew, Tuesday an Off The Rails Chocolate Stout, Wednesday a Way Out Wheat, Thursday over to Bridestones for a collab, Sprocket Wort Orange, Friday a Disfunctional Functional IPA and Saturday David from Otherton Ales is using fermenter 5 for his Mayflower. That’s a load of cask washing for next week and one worn out brewer [...]
