Saturday shenanigans

July 22, 2017 // 0 Comments

So it’s another #SummerOfBeer Saturday but it’s also the day we hopefully get the brewery back together.  The plan is still to be open 2pm to 10pm but there may be odd curses coming from the work crew as they get things sorted! Despite the torrential rain it was another great, busy evening yesterday with We Are Nomad having the honour of being the only band to ever use the brewery plinth as a stage.  Apologies for turfing you all out into the down pour but when it’s [...]

End of Day 3

July 19, 2017 // 0 Comments

Here’s the aerial view of the finished plinth, looks the business and can’t wait to get back to brewing.  Brain is already ticking over on a couple of new recipes… As it stands the beer and cider lines for the main bar are all cleaned and connected up, we’re aiming to get the second bar all online for opening time tomorrow (the bar is open Thursday 5pm to 10pm, Friday (5pm to 10pm and Saturday 2pm to 10pm this week).   At the moment we are still waiting on bits [...]

And so it begins

July 16, 2017 // 0 Comments

If you’ve been following our drain plight, crowdfunding on @Indiegogo then here’s the latest news. We raised over £1000 towards the £7000 repair bill very quickly in the first week.  I’ve not been plugging our fundraising efforts so much with all the #SummerOfBeer shenanigans going on but every tiny donation is a huge help to getting rid of this horrible debt and ensuring our survival.  As I’ve said to someone recently it’s more of a tsunami than our [...]

Welcoming Gary Hall

July 10, 2017 // 0 Comments

Our first full weekend of #SummerOfBeer was a huge success, great crowd of people for #FirstyFriday, a lot of new faces and some who think haven’t missed a night since we started! This week we welcome Gary Hall on site on Friday, he’s new here and we’re really looking forward to hearing him.  He’s had amazing reviews and his new album is described as, “Featuring eleven original songs of fresh and soulful rock’ n’ rolls roots music drenched in all [...]

The Last Airship

July 8, 2017 // 0 Comments

For the last two years we’ve got involved with the #Crewe Steampunk Convivial.  It’s definitely added an interesting and fun event to the town calendar and getting dressed up and pulling pints to refresh the thirsty visitors and performers adds some variety. Greg Chapman is a pretty cool kind of guy, if you’ve been to the Convivial you’ll have seen him juggling, unicycling and story telling, probably all at once! I believe he’s back in Crewe this weekend for [...]

Bar Opening Hours this week

July 3, 2017 // 0 Comments

Our live music every Friday for #SummerOfBeer kicks off with #FirstyFriday (coz it’s the first Friday of the month, one day it’ll catch on!) this week with Poyzer, Fluff and Farrell on stage. We will be open Thursday 5pm – 10pm, Friday noon to 10pm and Saturday 2pm to 10pm.  Poyzer Fluff and Farrell will be on stage on Friday about 8.30pm.   The beer line up is, as always, looking fabulous.  A great selection of our own Offbeat brews and some guests – everything from [...]

Want to help?

July 2, 2017 // 0 Comments

People have very kindly offered to help with our fundraising efforts so we put together a crowdfunding thing on Indiegogo. It’s not the easiest to find if you search so here’s the direct link with a load of information.  It’s already raised 21% of its funding goal since we put it live on Friday which is super cool. https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/raising-vital-funds-for-repairs-growth-bar-beer/x/11664616#/ In other funding news some of our lovely bands who play [...]

Future?

June 26, 2017 // 0 Comments

The future for Offbeat is a little uncertain as drainage problems here have taken a turn for the worse so as promised here’s a bit of an update and the dilemma of what to do next. I’ve one angry neighbour and understandably so with the drainage failing and his stock being damaged as water seeps through the partition wall.  I’m trying to put things right, see if anything can be done with the insurance and with the landlord while there is an empty unit in the block which [...]

It would be stating the obvious

June 20, 2017 // 0 Comments

to point out that it’s rather hot right now!   Keep promising myself I’ll keep the blog more up to date so here’s a bit of a long post… We’re having a couple of problems here with flooding at the brewery, the drain is leaking again and unfortunately going through the wall to the unit behind.  It’s a bit of a stressful time as you can imagine but we’re looking at getting it fixed properly rather than patching it up so we’re in the process [...]

Busy week ahead

June 5, 2017 // 0 Comments

At a quick tot up I’ve got 3 back to back brews to do, a load of bottles to get out for the first of this year’s Hoppiest Days weddings, the next set of wedding bottles to get labelled up and then get the bar open and ship shape for Thursday and Friday evenings. I’m hoping to get to Manchester to help at the Hops Not Hate event on Friday but the bar here will be open, beers pouring and gins being mixed! Michelle [...]
