#ISBF4 brews

September 18, 2017 // 0 Comments

Today’s a collaboration brewday for the Independent Salford Beer Festival #ISBF4 and I’ve spent the day brewing up a double IPA with Stuart from North Riding Brewery. I love getting involved with this beer festival, Jim is a great friend and passionate about beers and brewing. Im honoured to be on his invitees list although I feel I my days may be numbered having failed to make it there as a drinker! Stuart and I got matched up on Jim’s Five Aside North South pick (yeah, Crewe [...]

We raised just over £1700 from our Indiegogo fund raising which is a great help and has reduced a chunk of the bill for the drain repairs.  It’s holding up well, a great job done and it’s been a relief to get back to brewing, the comeback beer of Porangi NZ Pale has gone really well. All the Indiegogo rewards include the saviour beer in some form or another so we need to crack on and get that brewed.  I’ve a date pencilled in mid October with James and Jenny who chose the [...]

Yeah, sorry, Christmas, it starts scarily early each year.  Just a short note to say if you’re looking for somewhere kind of unique, like our Brewery Bar, for a party then drop us a message through our Contact Us page.  We’ve loads of contacts for bands, catering and we don’t charge for room hire other than a deposit to secure the booking. We’re lining up some great entertainment on Fridays in the bar in the run up to Christmas too. (Sorry, was prompted by booking [...]

Nantwich Food Festival

September 3, 2017 // 0 Comments

Finally sat down in the local pub with feet up and reflecting on what a great weekend I’ve had at Nantwich Food Festival. I’ve been as a customer before for the past few years and loved it so it’s been a big step to take a stall and get involved. It’s been hard work and long days but it’s been great and we are already planning a return next year! First up I need to send huge thanks to Chris, David, Sophie and Graeme helping get setup and keeping things ticking [...]

It all starts with a mash whether it’s brewing beer or distilling gin so for September and October we’ve gone on the hunt for the people who do both.  We’ve got a great line up of beers and an extra 15 gins to add to our fabulous gin menu.  Beers will be in a variety of cask, keg and bottle. We open up with a whole new lineup of beers on the bar; on the cask side we’re very happy to have some Offbeat beers back (we’re still brewing too luckily!). Check out [...]

In shocking news

August 21, 2017 // 0 Comments

Michelle is planning a November holiday so it may mean the bar is shutting for a weekend at some point but we will, as always, keep you posted. We won’t have any Saturday opening until 30th September as we’ve a crazy busy month with Nantwich food festival, Crewe beer festival the Wheels of War Dance etc but we are hoping to make Saturday openings a regular thing as they’ve been immensely popular through the summer. For our trade customers, if you’ve not forgotten about [...]

Confidence restored, or starting!

August 15, 2017 // 0 Comments

I need to make a confession. I’ve been avoiding brewing since the drainage has been sorted and the plinth sealed up. My confidence has taken a big knock, the fear of it still flooding out next door was kind of over whelming and then a burnt flavour started to develop on the beers. I asked the collective online brewing mindset about how best to clean the kettle element (I can’t reach all of it) and took their advice on board and the couple of brews that have taken place since seem to [...]
