Confidence restored, or starting!

August 15, 2017 // 0 Comments

I need to make a confession. I’ve been avoiding brewing since the drainage has been sorted and the plinth sealed up. My confidence has taken a big knock, the fear of it still flooding out next door was kind of over whelming and then a burnt flavour started to develop on the beers. I asked the collective online brewing mindset about how best to clean the kettle element (I can’t reach all of it) and took their advice on board and the couple of brews that have taken place since seem to [...]

Tap7 #SummerOfBeer

August 13, 2017 // 0 Comments

For the hop heads visiting our bar in the #SummerOfBeer, tap 7 has been the one to look out for. It's hosted the fabulous Catatonic collaboration from Salopian and Tiny Rebel, Magic Rock's High Wire Grapefruit, Burning Sky's Easy Answers amongst others. So we had to find something new and stumbled across this from Little Critters. Tagged as a small batch brewery we've got their 'C' Monster on order; a 6.5% citrus IPA made with the best quality American C hops, with [...]

Children policy

We've always been a pretty laid back kind of place and child friendly but after recent customer feedback we will ask that all under 8s are off site by 8pm on all nights. Apologies for any inconvenience [...]

#SummerOfBeer Saturday

August 5, 2017 // 0 Comments

After a rather fabulous #FirstyFriday we open today 2pm to 10pm. We had a couple of beer changes last night; the lager tap has changed to Cheshire Brewhouse’s Dane’ish and the Notting Hill Amber is almost gone and will be replaced with o’Haras Irish Stout. Looks like I’ll be going beer shopping again this week! Next week’s #SummerOfBeer band on Friday night will be Baxter. Always popular and played here loads, don’t miss out.  More information will follow [...]

#FirstyFriday today

August 4, 2017 // 0 Comments

Next month it’ll be 5 years since the first ever #FirstyFriday, we’ve come a long way, there’s been lots of changes along the way but the principles remain the same; turn up, drink beer (although we now have a great gin list along with other spirits, wines, ciders, soft drinks etc.), listen to a great live, local band (SWaY) tonight and have a bizarrely good time in an industrial unit in Crewe. Who would have anticipated it would take off the way it has? We open in [...]

Saturday shenanigans

July 22, 2017 // 0 Comments

So it’s another #SummerOfBeer Saturday but it’s also the day we hopefully get the brewery back together.  The plan is still to be open 2pm to 10pm but there may be odd curses coming from the work crew as they get things sorted! Despite the torrential rain it was another great, busy evening yesterday with We Are Nomad having the honour of being the only band to ever use the brewery plinth as a stage.  Apologies for turfing you all out into the down pour but when it’s [...]

End of Day 3

July 19, 2017 // 0 Comments

Here’s the aerial view of the finished plinth, looks the business and can’t wait to get back to brewing.  Brain is already ticking over on a couple of new recipes… As it stands the beer and cider lines for the main bar are all cleaned and connected up, we’re aiming to get the second bar all online for opening time tomorrow (the bar is open Thursday 5pm to 10pm, Friday (5pm to 10pm and Saturday 2pm to 10pm this week).   At the moment we are still waiting on bits [...]

And so it begins

July 16, 2017 // 0 Comments

If you’ve been following our drain plight, crowdfunding on @Indiegogo then here’s the latest news. We raised over £1000 towards the £7000 repair bill very quickly in the first week.  I’ve not been plugging our fundraising efforts so much with all the #SummerOfBeer shenanigans going on but every tiny donation is a huge help to getting rid of this horrible debt and ensuring our survival.  As I’ve said to someone recently it’s more of a tsunami than our [...]

Welcoming Gary Hall

July 10, 2017 // 0 Comments

Our first full weekend of #SummerOfBeer was a huge success, great crowd of people for #FirstyFriday, a lot of new faces and some who think haven’t missed a night since we started! This week we welcome Gary Hall on site on Friday, he’s new here and we’re really looking forward to hearing him.  He’s had amazing reviews and his new album is described as, “Featuring eleven original songs of fresh and soulful rock’ n’ rolls roots music drenched in all [...]

The Last Airship

July 8, 2017 // 0 Comments

For the last two years we’ve got involved with the #Crewe Steampunk Convivial.  It’s definitely added an interesting and fun event to the town calendar and getting dressed up and pulling pints to refresh the thirsty visitors and performers adds some variety. Greg Chapman is a pretty cool kind of guy, if you’ve been to the Convivial you’ll have seen him juggling, unicycling and story telling, probably all at once! I believe he’s back in Crewe this weekend for [...]
